The Ludlow is a machine that casts single lines of lead type for letterpress printing or foil stamping. Like the Monotype and Linotype machines, these are becoming scarce but are still in high demand for book artists and fine printers. This half-day workshop will step students through hand setting a line of text and with the Ludlow injecting molten type metal into a usable printing slug. Each student will get to take home the text they set and cast.
