Making Books by Hand - Peter & Donna Thomas
This must-have book for newcomers to the popular art of bookmaking teaches all the basics and features easy and interesting projects that allow self-expression and experimentation. More experienced bookmakers and paper enthusiasts will also note that it offers a wealth of practical tips and techniques in one handy resource.
The authors share innovative, unique, and previously unpublished binding structures that incorporate scrolls, flaps, folders, and more. In addition, some book projects are made from unusual materials or found objects, such as a book out of a ukulele, a real accordion book, a book diorama in a cigar box, and other experimental creations.

Link - A Critical Journal on the Arts
Issue 8, "Codex," examines the book as an object in the digital era. How does a portable, page-numbered, random-access paperback influence the way we think, the way we write, and the way we perceive ourselves? The editors of Link look at the seductiveness of the book, its place as the seat of the critical impulse, and its effect on authorship, narrative, and the arts.

Digital Book Design and Publishing By Dr. Douglas Holleley
This book covers all the essentials of digital bookmaking for photographers, artists, designers, and writers who want to move beyond the manuscript to the page. Based on his years of work as a photographer, bookmaker and teacher Douglas Holleley has developed a clear and considered approach to Digital Book Design and Publishing.

Inside the Book by David Esslemont
A unique fine press book...about making a fine press book. Covers every step in the consideration of making a book while also illustrating some of those considerations by using different papers and typefaces throughout. Really a great book.
