Western NY Book Arts Collaborative in cooperation with Quality Bindery Services present:
A Clam Shell Box workshop
Instructor: Brian Maloney Location: Quality Bindery Services Inc. 501 Amherst Street Duration: 1/2 day: Saturday, January 20, 2007 Hours: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Course fee $50 (WNYBAC members $40) Materials fee: $20 This half day workshop will introduce the clam shell box traditionally used to protect book and archival materials. Participants will make a double tray clamshell box.
This workshop will segue into the actual binding of the boxes for the WNYBAC-1 portfolio in the afternoon. Participants who remain to assist for the 1pm-4:30pm portion of assembly will have all fees waived.
Brian Maloney is a bookbinder, conservator and letterpress printer who worked for many years at The Robertson Davies Library at Massey College. He now freelances from his Toronto home and is an instructor for the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG).
